Any of you familar with the Robert Jordan "Wheel of Time" series? I've been reading the on going saga for over 10 yrs now, (they are great books (much like Lord of the Rings, and they have an Arthurian feel, and feature women with psychic powers) except for the time period in between the new novels you have to wait to continue the story-and the way the story has playe out for so long-think about the story of Harry Potter taking over 10 yrs!) and the author, may he rest in peace, passed away! Before he passed he was quoted to say that it would be 12 books total to finish the Wheel story. We fans have no idea whatsoever if he finished really. Argh. Poor man, dying like that but what a nightmare for us fans. some links: www.nzherald.co.nz/category/story.cfm?c_id=18&objectid=10464451www.tor.com/jordan/en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_JordanHere's information on the 12th and final book, scheduled for release in 2009! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Wheel_of_TimeIt says: A Memory of Light, Scheduled for publication by Tor Books in early 2009,[1] it was intended to conclude the series, which began in 1990 with The Eye of the World. On September 16, 2007, Robert Jordan died from amyloidosis.[2] Before his death, Jordan stated "I'm getting out notes, so if the worst actually happens, someone could finish A Memory of Light and have it end the way I want it to end." The decision whether to posthumously complete the book has been left to his wife Harriet and Tor Books president Tom Doherty.[1]

I got it in October 1991 when I was working at a bookstore in Chicago. He was there to promote the third book in the series but since I hadn’t read the first one, I bought that and had it signed. I still haven’t read it yet. This is a not uncommon fate for some of my books. I’ll have a book for decades and suddenly decide to read it one day. I think I’ll start the Wheel of Time series soon. I had actually forgotten that I had the book.

I'm glad JK Rowling lived long enough to finish the Harry Potter series. No one could do it as well.
