Just to let y'all know. I'll be having the same kind of surgery early Monday morning that Teddy Kennedy had on Friday. Read nothing of significance into that. A few weeks after that, a birthday that I plan to celebrate with extra poignancy and gratitude. The surgery is a bit scary to me, and I note with a twinge of irony that they're going to be cutting me in the neck to repair a major artery to the brain rather close to Halloween ... oooOOOoooOOOoooOOOooo! Cheery encouragment will be most welcome!

Hi Luce,
Good luck Monday morning. I'll be thinking about you and sending surgery angels (and an angel surgeon!) your way. Here's a big hug of encouragement!

Wow, guys! You did great! Thanks for the prayers and kind messages. The surgery went well and I have some charming side effects. Due to having to move the hypoglossal nerve and a branch of the trigeminal nerve, I have a cute lil lopsided grin and the tip of my tongue tries to take a 90 degree turn to the right also, when I stick it out -- on command, of course. These side effects are quite likely to disappear in time. But if they don't, *shrug*. :/ Oh, by the way, the surgery is officially known as a Right Carotid Endarterectomy. Think Roto rooter. And why does an ad for "Brain Salad Surgery" appear at the bottom of this page? LOL ;D

As for the ads, I’m not the one who sells them. It gets interesting sometimes to see which ads are sold for certain sections. It means they’re making assumptions about our interests based on the content of the posts.

Luc, Sorry I missed the first mention of your surgery. Computer problems here. I am glad it all went well and you came through it all good! That is great. Can I ask how you knew you needed to have it in the first place? Were there symptoms or something? You don't have to answer, I am just wondering! My husband had a seizure in 2006 and he's all fine now, but he had some abnormal activity in his brain and it showed up on scans... and this is besides the abnormal-ness men have in their brains anyway..lol.

Space Monkey, For the life of me, I can't remember what prompted the initial tests! I have been asked and asked, and given the amount of blockage, you'd think there would have been some symptoms. For the same reason, I was hoping that I'd notice significant improvement in something, but no. Darnit!
Thanks to all of you for your gracious good wishes. They are truly appreciated and encouraging.
